Cords II: Electric Boogaloo | Buy

In researching (if you want to call it that) our Budget Picks For Fall we found a lot of corduroy trousers, but precious few in interesting colours. The dark brown is always welcome, but a rich medium autumnal khaki was harder to come by. Interestingly, the big differentiator was price. Old Navy ($30), J.Crew ($70), and to a lesser degree L.L.Bean ($60) all let us down with their drab, faded beige variants. Only our man Ralph ($98) rose to the challenge, suggesting that we now have to get used to the idea of designer cords in the same way that we adapted to oxymorons like "jumbo shrimp" and "conservative think-tank".
