Dwell Magazine on Tron: Legacy

An interesting article in Dwell Magazine this month looks at set design in the new Tron movie. If you'd been trapped in a computer since 1982, what would be the design references for the space you'd create for yourself to inhabit? The answer, apparently, is that you'd take Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey sets and fill them with classic mid-century modern furniture like Mies van de Rohe's Barcelona chairs, the iconic Eames lounger, and an Arco floor lamp. Looks cool. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to us, but once you accept the premise that someone can be digitized and beamed into a computer, you've apparently cleared a threshold for willingful suspension of disbelief beyond which anything goes.
