The traditional guayabera is one of the all-time great warm-weather garments: short-sleeved and lightweight, finely detailed yet masculine, equally at home at a cookout or a wedding. But if your skin is pasty white, do not attempt to wear one. You'll look ridiculous. Instead, go for a Caucasian approximation. We've picked on Banana Republic a lot lately, but they got it together with this shirt, featuring some nice vertical embroidery but without the four pockets or near-transparency of the classic model. A güerobera, if you will.
