Hoodies don't have to Zuck

A lot of noise was made in the past week about Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg's decision to wear his ubiquitous hoodie on IPO day—including considerable speculation about whether this was some statement against Wall Street Culture (as hilarious as it is to even string those three words together). Whether the real reason is a desire to emulate other appallingly-dressed tech CEOs who Think Different or a simple lack of class, the problem here isn't so much that he wears a hoodie. It's that he wears such a phenomenally s**ty one and looks like a slob doing it. Combined with grown-up trousers and shoes, a tasteful hooded knit can look as stylish as any other kind of sweater. The key is simplicity—no zippers, no pockets, no buttons, no drawstrings, no logos—and quality materials. Shown middle: Inhabit, cashmere. Right: Patrizia Pepe, pima cotton.
