In praise of the safari jacket | Buy

Depending on where you live, of course, you might not need an outerwear layer at any time during the summer. But if you do it's kind of hard to beat the classic safari jacket, which is casual by design—in its most traditional form a lightweight coat stripped of lapels and most of its lining, wearable over just about anything, and looking best when it's a bit creased up and wrinkled after a long day at the Raj. Shown: Etro jacket rocked by Russian style icon and friend of the site Victor. Current-season cotton jacket from Hugo Boss. Two affordable Zara alternatives in pique (left) and a cotton/linen blend.
