Reviewers are fond of pointing out that the new Kindle e-book reader looks better than the original. Talk about damning with faint praise; we imagine burn ward docs see better looking stuff on their nightly rounds. The second-gen device is an improvement in every way, but while many are disappointed with the black-on-grey E-ink display—which Amazon can't really do anything about—the real problem is still the design aesthetics. Too much keyboard, too much plastic. The display should be almost the entire surface, and we'd like to see better materials... aluminum maybe?
