Lands' End Canvas. OK, seriously, now. | Buy

We had our fun picking on LE Canvas for their J.Crewy advertising photography, but in truth, we like Lands' End—they produce affordable, really well-made stuff and guarantee it forever. The Canvas line promises the same quality, but without the billowy loose fits that make us take all LE purchases straight to the tailor. We took them up on their free shipping promo and picked up the Heritage Chino. It's a solid basic item—soft, comfortable, washed but not frayed, completely straight leg. The benchmark in this segment is still the Bonobos Washed Khaki, which offers a bit more flattering fit and nice details like plaid pocket linings. But at less than half the price ($40 vs. $88) we like the Canvas trouser and appreciate the novelty of an LE pant with a contemporary fit right out of the box.
