Mailbag: Are Tom Ford Suits worth it?

Zack writes: "Tom Ford suits are heralded as the best in the business, but at $3K for off the rack, is it really worth the price? Would it be better to go with a nice Hugo Boss for less or would I really be missing out on something besides the Ford name?" Answer: Tom Ford suits are phenomenal, but we wouldn't pay $3K for anything OTR when you can get a solid bespoke or at least made-to-measure suit for a grand—see Saks Fifth Avenue's Private Label MTM, for instance, starting at $1200. Price aside, the expansive peak lapels of Ford's suit coats aren't going to be flattering for everyone. A highly fitted Boss suit is always going to be a good investment.
