Mailbag: Hair Gunk | Fail

D-Bag writes: "Is there a legitimate movement towards dirty hair that I don't know about? First there was Bed Head, then Dirt by Jonathan Product, and now Gillette Styling Gel Mess Constructor. Notice that the names of the products progressively imply bigger and bigger messes. What's next - 'Look What The Cat Dragged In Texturing Spackle'?" Answer: It used to be that if people could tell you had stuff in your hair, you weren't doing it right. Nowaday's aesthetic is more like, as long as the product-to-hair ratio is less than 1:1, carry on. We're against it and we get the sense that you are too. The next product to come along, we fear, might be called "S**thead" for reasons that are all too literal.
