T-shirt under a V-neck sweater

Most trends slowly fade out of favour, but some are killed, and we can pinpoint the exact death of the white crewneck t-shirt under a v-neck sweater: it was officially croaked when John McCain sported the combination during the 2008 campaign (left). Wearing a t-shirt under a v-neck is actually all right, but the key to making it work is to show much less of it—and less blaring undershirt white. These Zara photos (right) show some better options—heather grey instead of white, and/or a boat- or v-neck instead of a crew.
