The Phone Is The Computer II: Electric Boogaloo

It was last summer that we mused on the convergence of phone and computer, and less than a year later, it appears that the final piece of the puzzle may be falling into place. The upcoming HTC Evo 4G (shown) and Meizu M9 are headed to market with an HDMI port for connecting the phones to a 720p high-definition monitor or TV. We're assuming a docking station will be available for at least the Evo (it being the one that is not a dubious Chinese knockoff here) that will let you drop your phone into a desktop slot next to your Bluetooth keyboard and mouse and have as much computer as many people will realistically need. Not everyone in the world has a computer. Damn near everyone has a phone. Another small step towards democratization of essential technology?
