Toyota FJ Cruiser: get 'em while they last | Buy

We're bummed out at news that Toyota will be dropping the FJ Cruiser compact SUV for 2010. The original FJ40 had a run of over 20 years without any significant exterior design changes, and we had hoped that its spiritual descendant would last longer than three years. Sure, it's kind of funny looking, but that's the hallmark of most cars with designs that endure for decades—they start life a step outside the mainstream and ignore industry trends as long as possible (see also the original VW Beetle, Saab 900, and Volvo 240). FJ, we hardle knew ye.
