Waxed cotton in plaid

Lands' End Canvas and Bill's Khakis are selling lightweight fall jackets in deep plaids. Both are rendered in waxed cotton to ward off the rain. The LEC take [$250] is more blazer-like, and maybe a bit much with the corduroy elbow patches; it's also hard to picture someone reaching for it to stay dry. Bill's version [$595] is somewhat more successful, looking like proper outerwear with a button-up collar and covered pockets. If this is a trend we're all for it.
