Tumi Warms Up

If you visited a Tumi store more than a year or so ago there's a good chance you haven't been back, unless that bleak landscape of ballistic nylon in colours ranging from black to an extremely dark brown appealed to you on some sort of existential nihilistic level. The situation has fortunately brightened considerably with the arrival of California shoe designer George Esquivel as creative director. There's still plenty of nylon and darkness to be found, but now they're mixed in with quality leather, coated canvas, visible handwork and a lot more colour options. Left: Men's Beacon Hill leather brief [$495]. Right: Women's Villa Lucca City Tote [$495].
